Step Mother Arrested For Nearly Beating Child To Death In Grand Kru Co.

Child abuse in Liberia is said to be on the increase, in many cases from step parents.

Police in Grand Kru County have arrested and are currently investigating a step-mother for severely flogging her step-daughter believed to be 12 years old. The woman is identified as Comfort Sieh Quaye and she was arrested with another person in Setor Community, Barclayville, Grand Kru County.

The step-parents of little Patience Quaye was arrested Sunday morning after the incident occurred in the Sector community.

Police confirmed that the pair are their possession.

According to eyewitnesses account, Little Quaye was seen tied on the chair which after hot pepper from Ivory Coast was put all over her face and body.

The child was stripped naked and flogged.

Speaking in an interview with the officer in charge of Women and Children Protection at the Police Detachment, Michael Harry ensured citizens of the that the Step-parents of victim Quaye will be prosecuted according to the law for child abuse.

He noted that Details are still emerging as police are still investigating the matter.

Mr. Harry also dispelled rumor of eye-witnesses accusing Police preliminary investigation in Grand Kru County that little Patience Sieh quare step-parents Aaron Wesseh alia money boy and Comfort Sieh used their fingers to place the Ivory Coast pepper into the girl’s private part.

The Women and Children Protection officer, Micheal Harry told reporters that, such information provided to the press by eye-witnesses has not been revealed to Police.
