President-elect Joseph Nyumah Boakai has released the names of members of his Transitional Team who are expected to work with the incumbent CDC government’s Transitional Team in a joint collaboration to ensure a smooth handover of President in January next year.

Boakai was formally declared winner of the November 14, 2023 presidential election by the National Elections Commission (NEC) on Monday, November 21, 2023, with Boakai getting 50.64% against Weah’s 49.36% of the total valid votes, with 100 percent of the 5, 890 polling places tallied. It’s All Over: NEC Declares UP Boakai Winner, Getting Over 50.6% Of The Total Valid Votes Tallied – News Public Trust

The President-elect said the appointment of his transitional team is in line with Executive Order #123 issued by incumbent President Georgre Manneh Weah recently.

On the list are two of the top four presidential candidates who emerged in the third and fourth places of the October 10, 2023 presidential election–Lusinee Kamara of the All Liberian Coalition Party (ALCOP) and Edward Appleton of the Grassroots Development Movement (GDM), who endorsed Boakai in the November 14 presidential runoff election, which the former Vice President won.

Also on Boakai transitional team is one of the two female presidential candidates, Sara Beysolow Nyanti of the African Liberation League, who is also a former UN executive. Two former Liberian Finance Ministers–Amara Konneh and Boima Kamara as well as former Auditor General John Morlu and fomer Public Works Minister Samuel Kofi Woods are also on the transitional team of the incoming President, among others.

Meanwhile, President Weah is today, Friday, November 24, 2023 expected to convene the first inaugural meeting of the Joint Presidential Transition Team (JPTT), an Executive Mansion press release has said.

President Weah established the JPTT on November 21, 2023, through Executive Order #123.

The JPTT is co-chair by the incumbent President, Dr. George Manneh Weah and President-elect, Amb. Joseph N. Boakai.
