The Judge of the Monrovia City Court at the Temple of Justice, Jomah Jallah has sent two persons to jail for purporting to be Frontpage Africa reporters.
As Garmah Never Lomo reports, Judge Jallah took the action on Wednesday, October 12, 2022, after the the Liberia National Police (LNP) forwarded defendants Cyrus Jackson and Juniopr V. Fillet to the court for prosecution.
According to the Police charge sheet, on October 3, 2022, defendants Jackson, Fillet, and George Vaye to be identified convinced conspired and falsely pretended to be Frontpage Africa editors impersonating and soliciting funds from Government officials and other permanent individuals in Liberia.
The court document furthered that Lennart Dodoo (FPA editor) also complained he at some time received calls from several top officials and other permanent citizens that the defendants that called was purporting to be him and were requesting financial assistance presenting fake and forged identification card, which action was contrary to the law.
At the same time, Judge Jallah described the alleged act as being unlawful, wicked, criminal, and intentional; saying that it is in violation of sections 15.70, 10.2, and 10.3 of the New Penal Law of Liberia.
On October 3, 2022, defendants Jackson and Folley were arrested, investigated, and charged with the crimes of Forgery, Impersonating Officials, Criminal Conspiracy, Criminal Facilitation, and Criminal Solicitation.
The police charge sheet revealed that Journalist Dodoo informed police that the defendants, which purporting to be him, spoke with Senator Fonati Koffa, Prof. Wilson Tarpeh, EPA Boss, among others.
The FPA editor disclosed that officials also provided screenshots of the conversation and chats between the defendants and a copy of a fake ID Card bearing his (Dodoo) information as well as his photography.
According to the Cllr. Jesse B. Korboi (first witness) informed the LNP about a call from an individual claiming to be Journalist Dodoo informing him that, he was contesting the Presidency of the Press Union of Liberia (PUL), claiming that he was in Gbarnga, Bong County, attending his petition program from some of his supporters.
The second witness, P. Garswa Jackson told investigators that he received numerous calls from +231555638707 on September 14, 2022, but he did not answer and not return any of the calls; added that on September 15, 2022, he (Garswa) received several calls from the same number.
