A group of Faculty under the banner, “Concerned Faculty” has said they are resolved not to give a single exam until their demands are meant, as the end of semester exams schedule is being seriously disrupted.

The faculty demands, which were contained in a communication sent to Madam Ophelia Weeks, the University of Liberia President, named the payment of both June and July salaries and allowances.

According to the Chairman of the concerned UL Faculty, Alahiji Dukuly, they took the latest decision to remain unbending to their demands after meeting well attended by over 150 faculty members on the main campus of the University of Liberia on Tuesday.

At the same time, Mr. Dukuly has dispelled rumors that the University’s Administration has paid the June salary of agitated Faculty members.

He described the release issued by the UL administration appealing to them not to strike as “belated” and insisted that the payment of their salaries and allowance be done before they can administer the exams.

Mr. Dukuly said that while they have been informed that the Ministry of Finance has made disbursement in to their various accounts, several faculty members who visited some of the Banks did not receive their salaries.

Meanwhile a Mathematics Professor at the University of Liberia James Nyanquoi has decried the poor state of learning condition at the university.

Mr. Nyanquoi said for the past 22 years he has taught at the University, the current state of the University devastating while calling for urgent resuscitation of the country’s higher learning institution.

There has been no official response to the faculty’s latest decision from the UL’S Administration.
