A University of Liberia Professor and an executive of the opposition Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) Wilson Tarpeh has reacted to social media reports alleging Senator George Weah has ordered him not to enter the premises of the CDC.

Tarpeh, a former Vice President for Fiscal Affairs at the state-run University, is a senior member of the Weah’s campaign team.

He resigned from the post on February 25, 2015 on claims that the government intended not to provide funds to the UL due to his presence in the administration

According to the social media reports, Senator Weah suspended him from the CDC on claims that he squandered over US$62,000 intended to pay the Party’s poll workers across Liberia.

Reacting to the reports by telephone from Nimba County where he is accompanying senator Weah on a campaign trail, Prof. Tarpeh said the social media reports are “a blatant lie” concocted by not only his detractors, but also those of the CDC political leader to narrow their chances of winning the pending runoff election.

“These social media reports are mere propaganda being orchestrated by individuals, who are bitter about a George Weah presidency,” Prof. Tarpeh said.

Liberians are expected to go to the polls on Tuesday, December 26, 2017 to choose between Senator Weah of the CDC and Vice President Joseph Boakai of the Coalition for Democratic Change, CDC.

Tarpeh has accompanied the CDC presidential candidate on his latest campaign trail to Nimba County in northeastern Liberia.
