Six (6) Point Contract For Democracy & Sustainable Development By The People!
To All registered voters in Nimba County. Democracy is not an election. Democracy is a government of the people by the people and for the people. According to our constitution, “All power is inherent in the people. All free governments are instituted by the authority and for the benefit of the People.
The people have the right to alter and reform the government when their safety and happiness so require.” Liberian people are neither safe nor happy with politics as usual. Since 1822, elections in Liberia have not been free and fair and the 2024 senatorial election is not free and fair because the process was instituted by the authority of politicians and big money, and not the people of Liberia.
In America and the European Union citizens are not charged any money to register when running as public servants. But in poverty-stricken Liberia politicians create their own platforms, credit thousands of dollars to register and run to be lawmakers. Once elected, politicians become the masters, not public servants.
As masters, Liberian politicians set their own salaries and benefits, impose 9-year term for senators and are assigned new cars with drivers every three years. In Texas, a state with over $144 billion dollars budget, lawmakers elected by the people are paid $7,200.00 yearly with no car and no drivers.
The people’s money is used to develop their country. Liberian politicians who are enriched and empowered by the corrupt system cannot end corruption. Sign the Contract to demand democracy by halting the corrupt electoral process because a corrupt process that is not free and fair cannot yield a free and fair and democratic outcome.
Six (6) Point Contract For Democracy -Petition To Halt Corruption & Institute Authority of the People To Reclaim All Power For The People
The people must determine the salary and benefits of public servants
The People must have input in making laws through ballot initiative
The people must determine the term of office
Any citizen who wants to serve can run without paying money to register
