Monrovia, Liberia- Five Thousand Liberians are to benefit from a tuition free technical training being sponsored and organized by the WATKINS INITIATIVE FOR NATIONS (WIN) in Monstrredo County district # 10, according to the group.
The Watkins Initiative for Nations (WIN) is a Pro-Democracy, Community Empowerment and Community Development Organization.
Its primary goal is to advocate for the life betterment of Liberians, those residing in the Territory of Liberia and those elsewhere.
Founded in 2014, WIN continues to provide several Opportunities for Liberians to be economically empowered. WIN is helping to impact the lives of Liberians through vocational and technical training programs.
According to WIN Chief Exceutive Officer and Patron, Y.Solomon Watkins, the program is organized because they want to help all Liberians.
He said they have realized that vast majority of Liberians are living below the poverty line on (one dollar) a day, particularly residents of Montserrado County Electoral District #10 where the organisation has it offices and the way ought now is to help empower them.
Mr. Watkins is a youthful representative aspirant in Montserrado County Electoral District #10.
“We realized that most of our people can’t afford to pay the high cost of fees charged our residents who are in search for requsit quality vocational education. Most time, our residents are denied such opportunity so we have come to help mitigate the challenge on our already economic depressed population,” Mr. Watkins said.
He said the free tuition skills training program is WIN way of identifying problem and solving it especially by investing in human resource capacity development which he believes is the tool for societal growth and prosperity.
Speaking to www.newspublictrust.com , Representative aspirant, Watkins claimed that the independently sponsored skills program is targeting at about five thousands (5,000) Liberians but this Cohort will benefit one thousand (1,000).
He explained that the program began since 2021 and has graduated more than 2,000 persons within District #10.
According to him, skills offered are:
Pastry and catering services; Cosmetology and Hairdressing; Interior Decoration and African Beads Designs; and Tailoring and Fashion Designs.
Other skills are: Chlorax, Bath Soap, liquid soap, Floor Cleaner, and Tie Soap production as well as Tie and Dye.
“The entire program is targeting five thousand Liberians, particularly residents of District # 10,” Mr. Watkins noted.
The District #10 aspirant is urging Liberians to take advantage of the opportunity and make use of the knowledge to help improve their livelihood and living conditions.
Mr. Watkins also said he is investing into water and sanitation across the district to which more than 20 communities have benefited including the construction of water facilities in 5 communities and many more.
