As He Speaks At National Muslim Council Induction Ceremony

United States accredited in Monrovia is encouraging Muslims leaders to do all they can to ensure that the 2023 presidential and legislative elections are free from violence.
Ambassador Michael McCarthy said the Muslim leaders should use their influence to make sure that the 2023 presidential and legislative elections do not derail the democratic gains Liberia has made over the years.
Amb. McCarthy was speaking at the program marking the induction of the newly elected corps of officers of the National Muslim Council of Liberia for a four-year term in Monrovia.
According to the American diplomat, the Muslim community holds an advantage point in Liberia as evident by that their strength in several businesses including transportation, legal profession, petroleum products and whole dealership.
In his induction speech, the newly installed Chairman of the National Muslim Council of Liberia, Sheik Abraham Sheriff, cautioned Muslim to more active the activities of the organization.
According to him, the National Muslim Council of Liberia can only make progress when the Muslims in the country support its activities.

Sheik Sheriff promised to make his tenure at the council to build on what his predecessors have achieved over the years.
He thanked Saudi Arabia, the United States and former and present officials of the Liberian government gracing the occasion
Speaking on behalf of President George Weah, Internal Affairs Minister, who is also a Muslim, thanked the peaceful conduct of their transfer of power in the National Muslim Council.
He re-affirmed President George Weah’s commitment in respecting the freedom of religion and assured them of government sincerity in holding a peaceful and transparent elections.
Minister Sirleaf thanked the outgoing leadership for a job well done, including the decentralization of the council, the adoption of a new constitution and vision for the future.
Delivering the keynote speech, former Liberian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Dr. Brahima Kaba, commended the leadership of the National Muslim Council of Liberia for keeping the dreams of the founding fathers of the organization alive.
He cautioned them to build on the achievements of their predecessors in order to advance the spread of Islam in Liberia.
Others inducted were Mohamed Konneh, Vice Chairman for Administration; Abduraman Sow, Vice Chairman for Operation; Kuku Reeves, Secretary General; Anna Sheriff, Vice Chairperson for Women Affairs among others.
The occasion was graced by a large number of people including former and present officials of government, delegation from Saudi Arabia, members of the diplomatic corps, among many others.
