VP Jewel Taylor Urges Media Houses To Desist From “Negative” Reporting

GBARNGA, Liberia- Vice President, Dr. Jewel Howard Taylor has cautioned media institutions in Liberia to desist from “negative” reporting in the Country.

The Liberian’s Vice President noted that she has observed that media institutions in the country always reporting bad news, instead of the good news.

VP Taylor made the assertion when she spoke with local Journalists recently in Gbarnga, Bong County, nearly 198 kilometers northeast of Monrovia.

She added: “Reporting negative news about your country is being dishonest or unpatriotic. It even makes the citizens and international partners hopeless of the Country.”

However, the President of the Liberian Senate did not name any media houses that are engaged in reporting negative news, but said such unenthusiastic news is causing predicament for the development of the Country.

Furthermore, the first female Vice President said Liberia is not a hopeless Country, noting that Liberia is a Country that was founded on grace, mercy, blessing, but the negative news has caused unleash and unimaginable for Liberia.

The Liberia Vice President told citizens of Liberia not to be carry way by the negative media propaganda that continuous to be spread by some media houses.

She rallied the citizens to join the government of President Weah in moving the country forward in turn of development.

“Be aware that there is a new Liberia that will soon come to past, so we all whether small or big needs to work together in achieving this big dream,” Mrs. Taylor adds.

But, media gurus in Bong County  believed that the Vice President dissatisfaction comes during the heat of the 2017 Presidential and Representative Elections, when her son (Representative Cole)  told  electorates to elect him, on grounds that he was going to electrify the City of Gbarnga with  one thousand solar panels light before July 26, 2018.

When media houses begin to air the light story from the newsmakers that the  Bong County District#3 Representative lied to them of the electrification of Gbarnga, because the time shown by he (Cole) elapsed without fulfilling his campaigns promise.

But, after two years, the Bong County Electoral District#3Representative on May 23, 2020 presented 200pcs of solar panels light to the citizens of the District, with an estimated cost of one hounded and five thousand United States Dollars ($105000 USD).
