Eager To Test The Political Waters In 2023 For The Capitol Building

GBONDOI, SUAKOKO, Liberia-The October 2023 Legislative election is less than two years away, and people with political interests are beginning to test the waters, with one of them being Madam Veronica Lorpu Gbontoe Rennie in the central Bong County.

She is said to have carried out some developmental initiatives in the area and locals in Suakoko and Yelequelleh Districts are assuring her of their support come 2023, though Political Scientists say a year is a long time in politics.

Some citizens in the district have joined the latest campaign to pledge their overwhelming support to the Representative bid of Veronica Lorpu Gbontoe Rennie comes 2023 general and Presidential election.

“We are going to stands by you Lorpu, you are our daughter and we will do all we can to get you elected to the honorable house of Representatives comes 2023,” the citizens assured their daughter.

The rehabilitation of farm to market roads, the provision of tuition aid for school going kids, micro loan for women, youth empowerments and other infrastructure developments are priorities the citizens of Suakoko and Yelequelleh districts believe when their daughter is elected can continue to make strategic interventions in order to transform their lives for the better.

They said Madam Rennie has lived with them since birth, have and continue to work with them despite not in government but the well-being of her people especially the commoners remains a major concerns for her.

According to them, they have no doubts that the Gbondoi native when elected will continue her developmental initiatives across the Districts, especially in those hard to reach communities.

Despite the huge numbers of names emerging in District for the Representative seat to replace the District’s current lawmaker, Edward W. Karfiah, some of the people of this districts are satisfied and confident that their daughter is the right leader who can make the necessary change and put smiles on the faces of the ordinary people.

The citizens made the declaration at program marking the birthday celebration of Veronica Lorpu Gbontoe Rennie held in Gbondoi town, (her birth town) Suakoko District on Tuesday December 28, 2021.

Zennah Wamah is the youth President of Gbondoi. He believes that electing Madam Rennie to the house of Parliament will brings meaningful developments to Suakoko and Yelequelleh districts.

Mr. Wamah added, “Lorpu has lived with us for so long, serving as General Town Chief from 2011 to 2014 till she traveled to the United States of America. She never made anyone cried, she never took anything that wasn’t her from anyone forcefully while serving us, her people. And now that she is back and ready again to work with us, we will do all we can in order to send her forward”.

Also speaking at the well-attended ceremony, a son of Sergeant Kollie Town, (SKT) Dickson K. O. Moore reminded the Gbondoi native to see as priority the rehabilitation of feeder roads, the reconditioning of mini bridges, women and youth empowerment across the district among others as some area of focus before the election in 2023.

“To be honest, I am so proud of this lady and I know that electing her to the lower house will be a blessing to our district. I just want her keep stretching hands to our across the districts as she has been doing.

In remarks, Madam Rennie boastfully stated that when she is given the opportunity to serve her people, she will be a symbol of hope and a bridge between the district and the outside world.

“I can assure you all here today that if you vote me to me your Representative comes 2023, I will work with colleagues at the both houses, friends in and outside of the country to make our beloved district second to none in Liberia. We can make it, all we are asking for is for you to stands by whatever you have said here,” Madam Rennie vowed.

The Bong County’s visionary and benevolent renowned young female politician said, gone are those days when women were being left behind in the governing processes of the nation, despite the educations acquired.

She continued: “They come and go, we women are not going to sit asides and continue seeing the men in power. We must do something to say no to them. And with help of all women combine with some of our men across our beloved district, we can make that change.”

Madam Rennie then assured citizens of the districts that she remains committed in creating and providing the enabling empowerment for the livelihoods improvement of everyone in the district, weather in government or not.
