Armed Robbers’ Bullets Leave Two Persons Wounded In Buchanan, Liberia

BUCHANAN, Liberia– Armed robbers in the early hours of Tuesday, June 1, 2021 attacked a commercial residence in the southern port city of Buchanan, leaving two persons wounded from their gun fire, as armed criminals roam communities at night..
Those shot were Linda Brown, age 21 and Mekie Peidu, age 6. Madam Linda Brown was shot on her right foot and forehead while Little Mekie Peidu was fired many times on her foot.
Mr. Augustus J. Cartive, husband of Linda Brown told www.newspublictrust.com that the armed robbers used single barrel guns during the heavy rains at 2 Am in their raid.
According to him, he was asleeep when his wife woke him up after she noticed some strange people creeping to enter their house. But when they got up to check; the bad doers were already in the building.
Mr. Cartive explained that the armed robbers locked all the rooms in the house to prevent occupants from going out of the building to raise alarm.
He said that they were told by health workers that the X-ray test conducted showed remaining shots in their legs after removing about 10 shots from both of their legs.
“Health workers at the hospital told us the family that the X-ray test report conducted disclosed about 10 gunshots still in the six years old girl legs while the 21-year-old female had about 13 gunshots yet in her legs” This a sad situation for my family. I pray that my family gets better,”. the shaken Buchanan resident further explained
“I hope that the police will work out more to arrest, investigate and prosecute all those involved in harming people for their belongings. Even I would be killed by them if I were to put out resistance. This country is getting too bad and the government needs to stand tall in combating bad doers,” he said..
He said the armed robbers used the entrance of the house and managed to enter the building and placed them under gunpoint while others were seen with knives, cutlasses, and other deadly weapons.
“When my wife told me that strange people were finding means to break in our house, I woke up that night and look through the window and saw about three men with deadly weapons striving to enter our house and so out of fear we started shouting calling on community dwellers for help.  But then, while shouting we heard the first gun fired sound outside,” Mr. Cartive added.
“They enter the building and when my wife and the little girl saw the firearm, fear of being harm grabbed them immediately and decided to escape at which time the armed robbers bullet their legs and the shots also penetrated their faces.“.
This resident of Buchanan is, however, calling on the Liberia National Police to investigate the matter and provide justice for his family.
Commenting on the the latest armed robbery incident, the Police Commander in Grand Bassa County, Sackor Freeman appealed to citizens and residents of Bassa to assist Police officers in their various communities to fight crimes by providing substantial information that will lead to the arrest of criminals.

According to him, although the police was not informed about the robbery attack when it took place, his officers visited the hospital and confirmed that people were wounded by gun fire.
The Grand Bassa Police Commander promised that the police will do all they can in their capacity to arrest all those involved in the alleged armed robbery attacked in the Kpandy Community.
“We have the manpower to handle any crisis in the county, we are just appealing to the citizens to support us ( LNP) with information if they noticed extraordinary things happening in their communities to prevent it from reoccurringC“ commander Freeman added.
“Citizens should move freely without fear, we assured them that everything will be okay,”. the police official said.
Due to this situation, citizens of Grand Bassa County say they are living in complete fear, as they threatened to take citizens action against any of those armed robbers if they are caught.
In the Monrovia suburb of Paynesville recently, Police shot dead five suspected armed robbers who exchanged fire with them during a burglary at a private business center at the commercial hub of Redlight.
