The Liberia Drugs Enforcement Agency (LDEA) detachment of the Liberia in the southeastern River Gee County has arrested a man, age 37, with harmful narcotic substances.

According to the LDEA commander Joseph K. Gokar, the suspect was arrested on July 19-2022 at the Gbeapo Flowroken check point with 36 kilograms of high grade sensee marijuana, which has a street value of US$2,736,00.

The LDEA’s latest arrest comes amid reports that the agency is facing serious logistical and other constraints in the area.

Speaking with the media in River Gee County, the 37-year-old Man admitted the crime of being in possession of illicit drugs, but claimed it was owned by a Liberian business woman whose name he refused to call.

Investigation continues at the headquarters of the LDEA in Fish Town city, as intelligence is being gathered, the agency says.

Recently, a 35-year-old business woman identified as Massa Yunquoi, and a resident of Gbeapo Karweken in River Gee County was arrested and later admitted to being the rightful owner of harmful substances on board a vehicle.

Massa is currently in the LDEA custody pending court trial at the Fish Town Magisterial Court.

LDEA Commander Joseph K. Kogor has called for more support from the CDC government in the fight against harmful substances in River Gee and Liberia as a whole.

He added that the lack of mobility is seriously undermining their smooth operation in the combat against illegal drugs.

Commander Gokor also used the platform to call on the National Legislature to quickly pass the law making trafficking of illegal drugs a nonbailable offense.
