U.S. President Donald Trump announced on the afternoon of the 11th that he had canceled the previously announced airstrikes on Iran. Regarding ceasefire negotiations with Iran,
Trump stated, “The content has been delivered to the Iranian leadership and received approval,” adding, “We will soon announce the date and location of the signing ceremony.” Based solely on this statement, it is interpreted that a de facto agreement has been reached with Iran. The two countries had agreed to a ceasefire in April and continued protracted negotiations, but recent clashes had escalated tensions.
According to the statement released by the White House that day, Trump stated, “The content of the discussions and final issues, from conceptual aspects to detailed matters, have received approval from all relevant parties, including the United States, Israel, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Qatar, Turkey, Pakistan, Bahrain, Kuwait, Jordan, Egypt, and other related parties.”
However, regarding the U.S. naval blockade in the Strait of Hormuz targeting Iran, he stated, “It will remain in full effect until these negotiations are finalized.”
