The infant managed to have been miraculously delivered alive, but just hours into its emergence on this side of the world, tragedy struck.

That was in Kolahun District in northwestern Liberia, where a 24 year old mother of three identified as Boweh Koifee reportedly took the life of her own child few hours after she gave birth recently.

Boweh Koifee allegedly committed the act in Nyandimoilahun town during the morning hours of Thursday August 9th shortly after delivery.

According to police investigation, the suspect on that fateful day gave birth all by herself and later used a kitchen knife with a silver and black handle and plugged out the left eyes of her few hours old boy child.

She told police that police investigators that she did it because her husband abandoned her and left for another location in the name of finding contract for their survival.

Following the discovery of the child lying in a pool of blood within a bucket, her was immediately rushed at the Nyandimoilahun health center for care but later died at about 0800hrs.

The suspect who was arrested by police is currently being given medical assistance at the Kolahun hospital after which she will be investigated by the police.

The act committed by 24 years old Boweh Koifee has been strongly condemned by many residents in the area, who think that “she must pay for her evil act against an innocent child.”

Some citizens of Nyandimoilahun town told our reporter that the 24-year-old mother will have to explain the mean reason for committing such an evil act.

“It is not because of any abandonment as she’s claiming,” said Old ma Wendor, age 56.

She disclosed that the husband of the suspect provided money, old cloths and other materials for the upkeep of Boweh Koifee and her unborn child before even leaving for the Republic of Guinea.

“So I see no reason for her to have attributed her evil act to abandonment, for me let the law take its course so it can serve as serious winning to all other mothers,” the older woman said.

There have been reports of some mothers being in the habit of manhandling their children in Lofa but normally goes unpunished and this many believe if dealt with will serve as deterrent to others.

Meanwhile, reports from Zorzor City in Lofa say arrests have been made in connection to the recent alleged killing of a 29-year-old commercial motorcyclist in the area, J. Barkolleh Tokpah.
