Buchanan, Liberia -The Chairman of the Grand Bassa Chapter of the Civil Society Council, Mr. Barley Tokpa is calling on the City Mayor of Buchanan, Mr. Moses Haynes to speak to the allegation of receiving US$100,000.00 from a company, UMARCO.

UMARCO, which is now called (Bollore), is currently involved with transport and logistics in Liberia.

Buchanan is the capital city of Grand Bassa County, which is situated some 88 miles from the Liberian capital, Monrovia.

The CSO Chairman Mr. Tokpa is encouraging the Mayor to make a statement on the allegation either to distance themselves or take responsibility to account for the UMARCO money.

In an interview with the local community radio, Magic FM in Buchanan, the CSO Chairman advised the City Mayor to speak to the allegation than to prolong the issue.

He said prolonging his response to the allegation might have the propensity to create citizens action against the Buchanan City Corporation.

Mr. Tokpa is calling on those advocating about the one Hundred Thousand US dollars against the Buchanan City Corporation to write the civil society council for their intervention.

Recently, the former Student Leader Abraham King Jones recently accused Mayor Haynes of receiving One Hundred Thousand USD from UMARCO in December 2018, representing annual payment for land rental fees to the Buchanan City Corporation.

But, the City Mayor had since told the local radio, Magic FM that he is not responding to the allegation.

His silence has only created doubt in the minds of locals in Grand Bassa County and fuel further speculations about the UMARCO money.
