“Evil Spirit” Attacks Said To Have Prompted Man To Commit Suicide

BUCHANAN, Liberia- It has been gathered that a 54-year-old man who allegedly committed suicide in the Wee Statutory District in Grand Bassa County had been complaining of persistent attacks by “evil spirit”.

In Gbaynee Town in the district was discovered by some of his relatives.

Some relatives of the deceased said that James allegedly committed suicide because of what he called, persistently being attacked by “evil spiri”t after he had assured the religious community of his intervention to settle a dispute between the Christian and Muslims in the district.

A senior officer of the Crime Services Division of the Liberia National Police, Inspector Isaac S. Dueh said that a letter was discovered that is said to be written by the deceased as a “Will” before allegedly committing the suicide.

The CSD Officer quoted the deceased’s Will as saying, no one should hold neither his wife nor children responsible for his death.

He added in the will that he killed himself because he was being persistently tormented by “Evil Spirit” because he was doing the will of God to make peace between Christians and Muslims.

Quoting the 15-man Coroner Jury’s report, Inspector Dueh indicated that there was no foul play on the body.

The CSD Officer also added that the deceased mentioned in his will that his corpse should not be embalmed but mentioned that he should be buried without delay.

However, Madam Baby Mardin, wife of the deceased has noted that she and her late husband were legally married and that they have 12 children.

She said the family members and authorities of the district should hold the instruction of her late husband’s will.

The police in Grand Bassa County have meanwhile, turned over the remains of James Mardin the family to be laid to rest.
