-Makes separate donations valued over US$5,000

Voinjama- Liberia’s former Defense Minister, Brownie J. Samukai, who is eying the Senatorial seat in the 2020 Senatorial elections in Lofa County, continues to increase his visibility in this northwestern county.
The Special Senatorial election is scheduled for October next year, when one of the two Senatorial seats in each of Liberia’s 15 counties will be up for grabs. In Lofa, it will be the seat being occupied by incumbent Senator George Tengbeh.
In the past few days, he has been making separate donations in the county value at $5,426 United States Dollars in four districts of the county.
Former minister Samukai made the donations while on a four-day tour in the County in fulfillment of request for assistance from citizens and residence of the affected communities.
The donations include 26 plastic chairs and a 3.5kva generator to the citizens of Salayea District, a 3.5kva generator to the Sumo Kota Public in Fessibu town in Zorzor district, 52 begs of cement to the citizens of Yandohun town in Wanhassa District and a newly constructed hand pump to the citizens of Tobogissizu town in voinjama district, respectively.
Speaking recently at the dedicatory ceremony of the hand pump in Tobogissizu Town, the former minister and senatorial hopeful disclosed that his intervention is based on request from the citizens during consultation meetings with the citizens few months ago.
“Lofans I know that we are currently faced with hardship which I believe can be dealt with collectively; but let me caution you as we approach 2020 election to make a sound decision for proper representation,” the former Liberian Defense Minister indicated.
Former Minister Samukai however cautioned the citizens of the town to ensure that the pump is well managed and used as it will help to reduce waterborne diseases especially among the children and women who he said are the most vulnerable.
Speaking on behave of the citizens, Tobogissizu town Saah Toma thanked former minister Samukai for the construction of a hand pump for the people of his town.
“For too long we have suffered from the lack of safe drinking water as a town due to our location and soil type” town chief Toma disclosed.
According to him, there have been several attempts made in the past for the digging of wells and construction of pumps but to no avid.
He said the availability of the newly constructed pump to provide them safe drinking has brought a great relief for them as a town.
“Thou we are thankful for this initiative, we also still appealing to you our honorable to please help we with at least two more of these pumps considering the population of our town,” Chief Saah Toma added. Women of the town were however seen singing and dancing for the provision of safe drinking water in the middle of their town, which they said has reduced their distance they normally travel for drinking water.
