In Cape Mount: Police Probe Man, 27 For Allegedly Killing Mentally Ill Man

The Liberia National Police in Tewor District, Grand Cape Mount County are investigating a 27-year-old man identified as Boima Bayour Wai for allegedly killing a mentally ill mad man believed to be in his old farm.

The incident is said to have occurred on December 23, 2020, when suspect Wai went on his old farm between Sewu and Kru Town Beach when the mentally ill man only identified as Bashiru Wai stabbed him on his right hand and he stabbed him in retaliation.

According to the report, Wai came to Kru Town Beach and reported the matter to community leaders, including the commissioner of the town. But no effort was applied to search for this mad man since the incident occurred on December 23, 2020,

But they told victim Wai to go and treat himself and the mad man will also treat himself.

Bashiru Wai’s corpse was discovered in the bush with one of his legs completely cut off.

Since the occurrence of the incident on December 23, 2020, no effort was made to search for this mad man until after both Christmas and New Year passed when he was seen for a while, it was when the community leaders reported the matter to the police and the police instructed them to search for the mentally ill man.

The search began on January 4, 2021 but he wasn’t discovered until January 6, 2021 when his lifeless body was discovered far away from where the incident occurred.

From the town to where the incident occurred is about 15-minute walk.

One report says the mentally ill man had earlier wounded two persons before and his action including women.

Residents of the area say the condition of his mental illness usually reduced and escalated from time to time.
