DEHRADUM, India- Several food and fruit vendors have been displaying various types of local dishes from different regions in India at the ongoing Verasat festival 2022.
Varieties of the dishes are on exhibition with the aim of showcasing India’s culture, mainly through local food.
Interestingly, locals attending the festival have created huge excitements around some preferred traditional food which they cherished so much like Biryani, Chhole Bhature, Pav bhaji, Aloo Chat, Papdi chat, Dahi Bhalle, Raj Kachori, Sewpuri, Dahi Puri and Golgappe.
Some people at the festival were seen eating spring rolls, masala dosa, sambhar vada, Idli, mix Uttapam, Tava Pulao mainly from the South Indian region whilst others were making their debuts in the local Indian dish arena.
Famous dishes from Kolkata like kati roll and other mouth-watering foods were also on sale to patrons.
Amongst the many local dishes, Pavbhaji became the major attraction as the majority of the patrons were having a feel of it.
Pav Bhaji is a fast-food dish from India consisting of a thick vegetable curry served with a soft bread roll.
its origins are in the state of Maharashtra.
The food exhibition segment is divided into fifteen (15) unique stores which had corresponding dishes on sale.
They are Delhi Chat Corner, South Indian, Bhelpuri Store, Jeniha Gorkhali Food Joint, Rajasthan Foods, Chinese Food Corner, Maharashtrian Food, Amritsari Khulcha, Delhi – 6 Rotis, Chaap Chikka, Hyderabadi chicken corner, paan store, Kalkatta Masoor Carty Roll, and Uttarakhand Ka Special Kadh Bhoj stores.
Double egg roll, egg chicken roll, chicken roll, mix vegetable roll, egg paneer roll and soya chap roll were found in the Kalkatta Masoor Carty Roll.
Aside from the delicious Indian dishes on exhibition, there are several Afghanistan dry fruits on sale by Kbuli Mewa, a local fruit selling group with four years of experience in natural dry fruits.
Black raisin, green raisin and red raisin, munaka, apricots, mix dry fruits, almonds, strawberry, blackberry, kiwi, anjeer, pumpkin seeds, walnuts and dry mango are the types of amazing dry fruits that have been exhibited at the festival.
Asif Noori, Manager, Kbuli Mewa, said the Afghanistan dry fruits are natural and organic, as well as famous all over the world.
Elaborating further on the importance of the fruits, Noori noted that “Lots of people love the Afghanistan dry fruits because they have different health benefits”.
Afghanistan is a prime supplier of dry fruits like apricots, figs, Mamra or Gurbandi almonds, pistachio nuts, walnuts, pine nuts, and raisins including the exotic black variety to India.
