In a dramatic turn of events, Cllr. Dempster Brown, Chairperson of the Independent National Commission on Human Rights (INCHR) has launched scathing allegations on majority members of the commission, branding them as destructive agents planted to undermine both the commission and President Joseph Boakai’s government.

Last week, tensions escalated within the INCHR when a majority of commissioners condemned accusations by Cllr. Brown of interference by presidential legal advisor Bushben Keita in the commission’s affairs. Crack In Liberia’s Independent National Human Rights Commission – News Public Trust

However, in an exclusive interview with Pro Media TV at his Sinkor office on Monday, Cllr. Brown doubled down on his claims, asserting that the dissenting commissioners were aligned with former warlords’ intent on sabotaging the commission’s mission and the government’s initiatives.

“These commissioners are not fit for their roles; they have been supported and sponsored by warlords to undermine our efforts, particularly our stance on establishing a War Crimes Court,” Cllr. Brown stated firmly. He further alleged that these commissioners had actively worked to deter donor support for the commission and engaged in misconduct detrimental to its operations.

Cllr. Brown singled out Commissioner Fambullah, accusing him of serious misconduct including sexual harassment and involvement in criminal activities within the commission premises. “Fambullah is not a human rights advocate; he is a criminal. We have informed President Boakai about the crisis and their alleged misconduct,” Cllr. Brown emphasized.

The chairperson disclosed receiving communication from international partners indicating their reluctance to collaborate with the commission until Commissioner Fambullah is removed due to alleged human rights violations. He also accused Commissioners Fambullah and Ricks of unethical behavior, including “double dipping” and absenteeism.

But the accused commissioners have not yet issued a formal statement in reaction to the grave claims.

The situation remains tense within the INCHR, with stakeholders closely monitoring developments amid calls for intervention to restore operational harmony.
