KAKATA, Liberia- Barely days after a 16-year-old boy killed himself in the World Bank Community in Kakata City, Margibi County, the Joint Security here say they have made a successful crackdown on four alleged notorious criminals in the area.
The joint security include the Liberia National Police, the Liberia Immigration Service and the Liberia Drugs Enforcement Agency.
It can be recalled that Rennie P. Tuah shot himself in the head with a short single barrel gun, while in door resulting to his death.
The incident occurred during the morning hours of Sunday March 21, 2021 in that community.
Weapons seized from the robbers
Reason behind Rennie’s action is yet to be established by the Liberia National Police.
But family sources said he was associated with disadvantaged youths (zogos) and he was involved into the consumption of drugs and alcohol beverages.
Margibi County Assistant Superintendent of Police, Sylvester Hina on Wednesday informed newsmen that the arrest was made at a local car wash in the World Bank Community during a raid on Tuesday March 23, 2021 by the joint security.
He said the raid is part of the joint security’s effort in reducing the high rate of criminality in kakata city and its environs.
The Police Superintendent stated that the alleged criminals have been in the habit of terrorizing peaceful citizens, snatching bags and cellphones from people in the area.
“So this time around we formed a team and moved in and we were able to apprehand four notorious criminals,” said the Margibi County police official.
He named the criminals as 21-year-old Rufus Fomgba, 20-year-old Christopher Ngoboh, 19-year-old John Kollie and 22-year-old James Barclay respectively.
According to the police, the four persons are all Liberians and residents of Kakata City.
He further revealed that the culprits were arrested with a short Guinea made single barrel gun, three cutlasses, a knife, three wraps of marijuana, a wrap of Italian white and other instruments that they use to smoke drugs.
Meanwhile, the Acting Superintendent of Police said the alleged criminals are being processed and will be forwarded to Margibi County Court soon.
