Joseph Boakai Foundation distributes books, shoes to Liberian students

After leaving office, Liberia’s former Vice President Joseph Boakai is nowadays busy with the work of hisfoundation.

The Joseph  Nyumah  Boakai Foundation has launched the distribution of 9,000 pairs of shoes, assorted books and  bags  to less fortunate children throughout the country.

The founder of the foundation, Ex-VP Boakai said his desire to distribute shoes, books and book bags to less fortunate children was as a result of the observation hardship facing some of the children during the campaign season.

Ambassador Boakai made the statements at the presentation ceremony of four 40 feet containers of shoe, books and bags to the Young Men Christian Association, the Katumu Y Boakai Foundation and Foundation for Women at his office in Paynesville.

He pointed out that his foundation has also procured two yachts purposely to be presented to communities facing challenges in cross rivers to their destinations

According to him, one of the containers containing feet wears has been sent to his home town, Lofa County while another containing books has been deposited in Grand Gedeh County for children in the southeastern region.

Receiving the items, the National Secretary General of the Young Men Christian Association, Timotheus  Kamaboakay , said the presentation of the shoes, books and bags to less fortunate children throughout the country is line with objectives of the organization.

He assured the Joseph Nyuemah Boakai Foundation that the items will be distributed to  less fortunate children throughout the country.

Kamaboakakay, who described Ambassador Boakai as a life time Ambassador Boakai as a life time member of the YMCA,    pointed out that his organization will stand by the Joseph Nyumah Boakai Foundation in providing assistance to the Liberian people.

Also speaking, the Secretary General of the Katumu Y. Boakai Foundation,  thanked Ambassador Boakai for the presentation of footwear, books and bags  for the less fortunate children in Liberia.

Speaking earlier, the Executive Director of the Joseph Nyumah Boakai Foundation , Sylvester  Grisby, disclosed that the organization will soon begin the distribution of agricultural tool and seeds to farmers throughout the country

He described the former Vice President and Mrs.  Boakai as humanitarians whose legacy will be left on the sand of time and encouraged other well meaning Liberians to do the same.

At the end of the program, a number of children who graced the occasion were given shoes, books and book bags. Report by Augustine Octavius
