The Liberian Justice Ministry on Monday confirmed that a shipping container with huge amount of money did go missing and that an investigation had since been launched.

In a press release signed by Justice Minister Cllr, F, Musa Dean, the Ministry said: “initial findings indicate that the containers and bags of moneys allegedly arrived between November 2017 prior to the inauguration of the current government, and August 2018 evidence available to the Investigation Team had established that the current administration was not informed of the arrival of the containers and the bags of money into the country.”

This story was first broken by the Hot Pepper newspaper recently that it had information that the container that got missing from the Freeport of Monrovia had nine billion Liberian dollars and over three million US dollars.
