Legislature Tells Staffers Stay Home, Amid 3rd Wave Of COVID-19

Those working at Capitol Building – seat of the Liberian Legislature have been told to stay home as part of preventive measures against the 3rd wave of the COVID-19 spread in Liberia.

An advisory released by the lawmakers says beginning Monday, January 21, 2021, only two persons will be allowed to stay in each of the offices excluding the lawmakers’ individual drivers.

Journalists covering the legislature have also been told to stay away and instead to their coverage through the news feed of the Legislative Press Bureau.

Health authorities recently announced a third wave of 19, which has claimed nearly 100 lives in the country.

Cumulatively, Liberia has now confirmed 2,484 cases after testing 111, 939 samples from onset of the outbreak; from January 2021 to date, a total of 566 cases are confirmed, according to the Incidence Management System (IMS)..

The breakdown of cases over the past two days: 9th June: 350 samples tested with 71 confirmed cases; 10th June: 211 samples tested with 31 confirmed cases.
