Liberia Chamber of Commerce to launch Arbitration Services

-As Ivorian envoy pays courtesy call on LCC executives

The Liberia Chamber of Commerce (LCC) will shortly launch its Arbitration Services in collaboration with the IFC on the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), an LCC official disclosed in Monrovia.

According to LCC’s Secretary General, Ms. Stephanie Salamartu Duncan, the function of the Arbitration Committee is to conduct the Arbitration in such manner as it considers appropriate.

Ms. Duncan said in a press statement on Thursday that all cases the arbitration Committee shall conduct the arbitration in an impartial, practical and expeditious manner, given each party an equal and reasonable opportunity to present its case.

“As all of us are aware of the current financial situation in the country particularly the issue of essential commodities, taxes, labor issue, etc. The Chamber as the oldest and most representative voice of Liberia’s diverse business community, (i.e, private sector) invite various business community,” She said.

The Secretary General of the LCC listed the following category of business community:

  • Expat/Foreign Business Community (Expats/Foreigners owned businesses only) on Friday, October 19, 2018 at 9:30 AM at the Liberia Chamber of Commerce.
  • Liberia Business Community (Liberian owned business only) on Friday, October 26, 2018 at 2:00PM at the Liberia Chamber of Commerce.

A new corps of officials are now in place to run the affairs of the Liberia Chamber of Commerce.

The LCC has announced that it will be holding its Business Dinner and Installation of officials at the Monrovia City Hall on October 30, 2018.

Meanwhile, Ivorian Ambassador to Liberia, Feni Kouakoua and his staff havepaid a courtesy call on the President of the Liberia Chamber of Commerce (LCC), Mr. J. Wendell Addy at his office in the Sinkor suburb of  Monrovia.

Ambassador Kouakoua discused issues of importance relating to both countries and the chambers.

During the discussion, the Ivorian envoy and LCC’s President Addy agreed to establish cordial relations that will enhance trade between both countries, the creation of check points that will improve the working relationship.

They also agreed to put into place professional customs and security in order to alleviate those things that will derail transporting raw materials from one country to another.

On the enhancement of trade, both agreed to jointly impress on their respective countries (Liberia and Ivory Coast) produce tires, the supply of iron ore and other materials that would be useful for trade investments for the benefit of the sub region.

In a press statement, the LCC says the Liberia Chamber of Commerce and its Ivorian partner will in shortest period of time will sign an MOU aimed at improving trade and investments.

The Ivorian Ambassador to Liberia and the LCC President also discussed organizing of a trade fair by both countries, in order to publicly exhibit their respective products which will also build stronger ties between the two Mano River Union countries.

The Ivorian envoy was accompanied by two of his Embassy officials, Toh Te’tiali Roland and Akabla Bruce, while the LCC’s Vice President, Assad Barbar and Secretary General Ms. Stephanie SalaMartu Duncan attendingWednesday’s meeting.
