KAKATA, Liberia- Although the Liberian government has rubbished reports of a wave of insecurity in the country, the District Superintendent of the Weala District Conference of the United Methodist Church Liberia Annual Conference (WDC/LAC/UMC) has asserted that Liberia is bleeding due to rise in ritualistic activities.

Rev. J. Methuselah Sackie made the assertion on Sunday, October 10, 2021 at program and activities marking the second charge conference of the Todee region Churches of the WDC/LAC/UMC held with the Kingsville #7 UMC.

Rev. Sackie said people are sacrificing others in the name of power and riches, among other thingss.

The preacher’s statement comes weeks after indicted former RIA Managing Director Ellen Corkrum made a startling revelation alleging the involving of the Solicitor General of Liberia in sacrificing virgins for ritualistic purposes, a claim he has since denied. Ms. Corkrum also claimed that she was told that similar ritualistic activities are being done for the Minister of State, the Liberian President and other top officials of the CDC government, something the Ministry of Information has also since categorically denied.

But on Sunday, the Methodist cleric lamented: “The Country is bleeding, innocent bloods are crying.”

Rev. Sackie stated that people want to be rich while others want to get into power when it is not their time therby not waiting for God’s time.

The Liberian cleric also said people are expecting too much too soon and as such, they get involved into wicked acts.

“Others are sacrificing their own children,” he narrated.

Few weeks ago, the Independent National Commission on Human Rights (INCHR) issued a statement calling on the Liberia National Police to put the wave of insecurity in the country under control.

The INCHR Chairman, Cllr. Dempster Brown said reports gathered by Monitors of his Commission showed that there was a rise in mysterious deaths, mysterious disappearances and ritualistic killings around the country in recent times.

Rev. Sackie is meanwhile encouraging Liberians, especially United Methodists to get on their knees and seek God’s face indicating that God has not forgotten them.

“God has not forgotten us, he is in control and he knows when you will live the best of life,” he recounts.

Rev. Sackie, who delivered the Sunday’s sermon from the text 1st Samuel 1:12-20 under the theme “God has not forgotten you,” expressed that if Liberians are patient and seek God’s face, he will perform miracle in their lives.

Liberians need to rise up and tell God to expose every ritualist as they are tired something he added, God will expose them (ritualists), he added.

He reminded Liberians that God has not forgotten them and that he has them on mind.

Rev. Sackie explained that many feel that God has forgotten them and as such when things get hard for them they get engaged into unwholesome behavior.

“Tough time will come, but will not last, Liberians let us not give up it is not over yet; God knows you by name do not be in worry”.

He also encouraged Liberians to stand firm and pray to God for Liberia will shine again.

The Methodist prelate again reminded Liberians to be still for their God has not forgotten them.
