Monrovia, Liberia- The joint security spokesman headed by Moses Carter in a news conference said they are ready and prepared for the runoff election and urged the political parties that made it to the runoff election to submit their respective campaign schedules in order to avoid electoral violence.
The Liberia police spokesman Carter has, at the same time, encouraged the political parties to uphold the Farmington declaration signed by them months ago. He was speaking during a press conference in Monrovia earlier this week.
Incumbent President George Weah of the CDC and the presidential candidate of the main opposition UP, Joseph Boakai are in the runoff election set for Tuesday, November 14, 2023, because none of the two top contenders was able to secure the 50% plus one vote to win the October 10 presidential election as required by Article 83 of the Liberian constitution.
Mr. Carter called on leaders of the two political parties that are going for runoff to share the message of nonviolent election adding that in order to curtail most of these electoral violence incidents is to avoid going gathering of political parties that you are not belonging to.
“If you are not suppose to be part of any political activities of your opponent, stay away”.
He said most often, the joint security can be blamed in case of violent not knowing that the police cannot be informed of those activities.
According to Mr. Carter, they used the SWOT analysis which means, they analyzed their strength, weakness, opportunity and threat in order to improve on them for runoff election.
“The runoff election is in full-swing and we are prepared to tickle any violent says Mr. Carter”.
The LNP spokesman added that based upon the way their officers handled this gone elections, it shows some level improvement against brutality.
Meanwhile, the LNP is investigating three persons in connection to stealing a one-month-old male child after the child mother left him with suspect Tonia Mulah to take things to her new home and upon her return, she couldn’t see her son but only to later see her son in suspect Jenneh Kamara and Alieu Kamara room.
After vigorous search, the child was found and returned to his mother.
Mr. Carter used the medium to appreciate CSO, the general public, international observers, political parties and the media for the peaceful conducts during the first of the elections.
