Admits That Health Workers Deserve Better, Vowing To Improve Their Livelihood

Liberia’s Health Minister has vowed to improve Health Workers’ Living status, amid threats by them to stage go slow action.
Dr. Louise Kpoto, who admitted that health workers deserve better, has announced plans to increment of their salaries to commensurate with their jobs, although she didn’t however, state when the pronouncement will take effect.
She clearly described the Health workers as the “backbone of the Ministry of Health in Liberia” while vowing to seek their interest including patients.
Many Civil Servants including health workers in Liberia have since called for better wage.
During her recent nationwide tour in the Southeast, Dr. Kpoto disclosed a plan to construct health workers’ homes. This, she stressed, will motivate them.
“There are lots of things we’re doing behind the door to improve things” she pointed out.
During the Minister’s visit, she also assessed several health facilities as well as gathered crucial challenges faced by health facilities and health practitioners. She then interacted with community leaders and local government officials.
“We are here to do an assessment of the facilities, and to look at some of the challenges you are faced with. We are not here to criticize, but to improve” she added.
Minister Kpoto Heaps praises on Jackson Doe Hospital CEO
During the tour, Dr. Louise Kpoto visited the Jackson F. Doe Hospital and heaped praises on the Chief Executive Officer, Victor Kaizer for transforming the hospital.
She openly called on the health workers including consultants, Doctors, among others to work with Mr. Kaizer.
“I ask for your support because he can’t do by himself. I’m placing Victor’s hand in your hands. Your please give him the fullest support to enable to succeed. To all the health workers, he can’t do it by himself,” she encouraged the gathering.
Under his watch as CEO of Jackson F. Doe Hospital, the institution scored a 100% in sanitation, organization and delivery.
The hospital was described as the most cleaned before the ascendency of Dr. Louise Kpoto as Health Minister of Liberia.
Lauds president Boakai for connectivity
On road connectivity, Dr. Kpoto praised President Joseph Boakai for road network in the Southeast.
Initially, according to her, residents took nearly a week in getting to the Southeast, but now, they’re using hours in getting there.
“The road is good. The President has done well; he has really delivered on it as promised [during the campaign]. We thank the president for that” Liberia’s health Minister stated.
