Liberian Police Step Up Enforcement Of COVID 19 Safety Measures

Monrovia-As Liberia continues to record scores of new confirmed Coronavirus cases, the National Police has closed several entertainment centers in and outside of Monrovia for violating the revised health protocols prescribed by the Ministry of Health (MOH) and National Public Health Institute of Liberia (NPHIL).

Both Ministry of Health (MOH) and  National Public Health Institute of Liberia(NPHIL) upon the resurfacing of the deadly Coronavirus Pandemic that  is troubling the World Health Sector released several protocols that include ,hands washing regularly, compulsory noise mask wearing ,avoid huge crowd, no public gathering should be above 20 persons amongst others

According to the Police Inspector General Col. Patrick Sudue, entertainment Centers closed down were caught by law enforcement officers violating the health protocols prescribed by both  Ministry of Health (MOH) and  National Public Health Institute of Liberia(NPHIL)but Liberians owning these businesses refused to adhere to these measures.

The Police boss disclosed that those entertainment houses were shutdown, due to violation, are in the Sinkor suburb of Monrovia and Duport Road in  Paynesville. Their owners are fined 200 two hundred United States Dollars each to be deposited into government revenue.

IG Sudue is however calling on Liberians to adhere to the new and revised Coronavirus Pandemic released by MOH and NPHIL to save lives of ourselves and many Liberians.

Col. Sudue made it clear that anyone caught violating the health protocols will be dealt with according to law.

“Government released an order that night’s clubs and entertainment Centers should be closed before 9pm, but this is even hard for some businesses owners in our country but we will continue to enforce this order and others

“I want to be crystal clear with everyone that Covid-19 is real, save yourself and your household ,we law enforcement officers will arrest anyone caught these precautionary measures prescribed by health authorities,” the Police IG said.
