Liberia’s COVID-19 Deaths Hits 70, As Africa Records Spike In The Virus

Liberia records up to one thousand 1,088 confirmed Coronavirus cases over the weekend, with the number of deaths gone up to 70.

According to the July 17, 2020 COVID-19 Update from the National Public Health Institute, Friday recorded 3 new confirmed cases, with one new death.

At the same time, over 20,000 New Confirmed Covid-19 Cases Across the African Continent in 24 Hours.

As of July 18, confirmed COVID-19 case total from 55 African countries has reached 683,492, rising by 19,540 in 24 hours.

Reported deaths in Africa have reached 14,673 and recoveries 360,379.

South Africa has the most reported cases – 337,594, with deaths numbering 4,804. Other most-affected countries include Egypt (86,474 cases), Nigeria (35,454), Ghana (26,125) and Algeria (21,572).

The numbers are compiled by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) at Johns Hopkins University (world map) using statistics from the World Health Organization and other international institutions as well national and regional public health departments.
