LNP Confirms One Death In Shooting In Monrovia’s Police Academy Suburb

Following shooting early Monday, July 3, 2022 in the Police Academy community in the Paynesville suburb of Monrovia, the Liberia National Police (LNP) has confirmed the death of one person.

The LNP says it has arrested the alleged perpetrator.

In a press release today, the Police identified the shooter as an adult male, Patrick Kollie who did the shooting last night.

Exactly who Mr. Kollie is, the Police did not say or what kind of gun was used. It is also not known whether the gun used was licensed.

But the shooting incident left one person dead, with the corpse currently deposited at the John F. Kennedy hospital.

The area where the shooting took place host the largest police and paramilitary training facility in Liberia.

Police say circumstances surrounding the shooting incident are being currently investigated by the LNP, while the suspect remains in Police custody.

Authorities of the LNP say the Liberia public will be duly informed  subsequently.
