Reports from Kpo Clan, Todee District say a band of gangsters in the area have gone on an unusual stealing spree, taking away cattle and other valuables belonging to residents, some 76 kilometers outside the Liberian capital, Monrovia.

An Elder and resident of the clan told journalists that the thieves have also been going on char coal mines making away with dozens of bags of coal overnight.

“I personally had 18 goats on my farm, and they have taken all away. Some people breeding chickens on their farms have suffered also, as almost all of their chickens have been stolen,” Joseph Fahn explained.

Their pattern of operation and the volume of items they take away clearly shows they are in good number, Fahn continued.

He said the identities of the criminals remain unknown, as they often move under the cover of darkness.

”It is a serious problem for us here. We know government cannot employ everyone. That is why we are trying in other ways to make living, but they keep frustrating us,” Mr. Fahn lamented.

He wants government to help them combat the new wave of thievery in their communities which has resulted into untold sufferings including starvation among victims.

Fahn said they want to government to come in as quickly as possible because they don’t want to resort to taking the laws into their hands.
