Monrovia- The Monrovia City Hall building looks beautiful from the outside clad with colorful posters, but a visit by this Reporter inside the seat of the Municipal government last week portrayed a very different picture.
First, the Theatre where big public ceremonies used to be held, looks run down, as the roof leaks, chairs are tattered and this venue looks like swimming pool.
The Monrovia City Hall, which is responsible to enforce city ordinances, has over the years collected millions of dollars from bill boards, programs and several means of generating monies but yet still the compound doesn’t show it.
During a quiet visit by this Reporter early Wednesday morning (July 21, 2021), it was discovered that the entire treater, particularly near the podium has turned into to a mini-river, amid the chairs being in deplorable condition.
The treater has also turned to dump site and stinks, becoming “hold your nose and pass” place.
Current City Mayor Jefferson Kojee, in one of his press conferences last year, said he was not appointed to be in “dumpile” Mayor.
But critics say he rather sits in his office wearing his bow necktie.
Inside of the Monrovia City Hall itself, the theatre and other parts seem not to have been painted for a long time, as the one done previously has washed away, with alga covering parts of the wall.
A video footage was done by this Reporter during her visit, depicting what the situation looks like, especially in the City Hall theatre.

According to information gathered by this Reporter, some offices including that of Mayor Jefferson Kojee has several buckets sitting to capture the water pouring from the leaking roof.
The floor at treater has changed color due to the uncontrollable leakage of the area.
Also at the back of the Monrovia City Hall around the flower garden, it has turned into dump site, where garbage is literally taking over the place, making it difficult to breathe fresh air.
Surely, something needs to be done to give a facelift to the seat of Monrovia’s Municipal government.
