Montserrado County superintendent designate, Whroway Bryant, wants the government to set aside a minimum of one million dollars for the county’s development initiatives.

He said it would be wise for the government to see sense and give the county a million dollars to deal with some of the most pressing issues the county is currently facing.

In comparison to neighbouring counties, he claims that Montserrado faces significant issues related to drug usage and land crises.

“I think I host the highest population and should also be given the highest budgetary allotment. If people in Montserrado County are well taken care of, it will definitely have a trigger-down effect on the rest of the folks from the 14 counties in Liberia” he added.

He noted that people from other counties are depending on their parents, relatives, and friends in Montserrado for financial supports, especially school fees, medications, feeding, etc.

Bryant made the statement on April 8, 2024, during the Senate internal affairs committee confirmation hearing of superintendents designate at the Liberian Senate on Capitol Hill.

The Montserrado County Superintendent Designate further described two hundred thousand United States dollars allotted for county development as just a drop in the ocean.

He said the amount is not even sufficient for administrative operations of the county.

Superintendent Bryant noted that two hundred thousand is infinitesimal for any county development agenda or programs.
