BARCLAYVILLE, Liberia—A massive Mpox vaccination campaign has begun across the southeastern Gran Kru County.
According to a release from the County Health Team, the vaccination exercise is being conducted by the County’s Health Team, in collaboration with health partners and the Ministry of Health.
The vaccination exercise began with health workers at the Barclayville Health Center, targeting frontline medical staff, key populations, and joint security personnel in its initial phase.
Health authorities here say the first phase of the campaign prioritizes individuals considered to be at higher risk of exposure, particularly those working on the frontlines of healthcare delivery and public safety.
The approach, they noted, is aimed at strengthening early protection, reducing possible transmission, and safeguarding public health throughout Grand Kru County.
The Ministry of Health emphasized that the vaccination drive forms part of national efforts to prevent the spread of Mpox and improve preparedness at the county level.
“Together, we continue to take proactive steps to prevent Mpox and protect our communities,” the Health Ministry stated.
Health officials are encouraging cooperation from the public as the campaign progresses, noting that additional phases will be rolled out to reach more eligible groups across the county.
