Norweigian delegation in Monrovia, promises to invest in Liberia

Monrovia, Liberia- A high level delegation from Norway is visiting the country headed by its Minister of International Development of Norway, Mr. Dag Inge Ulstein, a Foreign Ministry press release said here on Friday.

The delegation, extended thanks and appreciation to the Acting Foreign Minister and the Liberian Government for the warm reception accorded his delegation here, in Liberia.  

During talks with Liberia’s Acting Foreign Minister, Mr. Abraham Korvah on Thursday, October 10, 2019, the Head of Delegation then assured of his Government’s willingness to get involved with Liberia’s development drive at all times.  

He said his delegation was in the country to reassure Liberians of Norway’s unflinching and continued support to Liberia’s development initiatives.     

Minister Inge Ulstein hailed the cordial and longstanding bilateral relations with Liberia, Minister Inge Ulstein disclosed plan by the Norwegian Government to invest in agriculture and forestry, adding that forest project has lots of benefits for developing countries.    

Acting Minister, Abraham Korvah extolled the Norwegian Government for its humanitarian and development assistance to Liberia, since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Liberia and Norway.      

Mr. Korvah observed that the longstanding relations and cooperation between Liberia and Norway have been mutually fruitful and rewarding to the two governments and peoples.   

The Liberian Acting Foreign Minister was speaking on Thursday, October 10, 2019 when the visiting high level Norwegian Government delegation paid a courtesy call on him, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

He urged the Norwegian Government to continue its assistance to Liberia, especially in the areas of security, forestry, agriculture and infrastructure as well as the Energy sector.  

Acting Foreign Minister Korvah also asked the Norwegian delegation to help provide scholarship opportunities to enhance the capacities of the Liberian youths, mainly in the areas of vocational and technical training.     

The meeting between the Acting Minister and the Head of Norwegian Delegation was attended by members of the senior management team of the Ministry including Ambassador Jarjar Kamara, Senior Ambassador-At-Large, among others.

The head of delegation further assured them of Norway’s support to their initiatives through collaboration with Norwegian civil society institutions.

The visiting Norwegian delegation also met with representatives of civil society organizations, including the media and others institutions.
