Oxfam In Liberia Donates To Zwedru Health Team

Zwedru- Oxfam in Liberia through its county office has donated several assorted items to the Zwedru County Health team.

The materials include Face shield- 200 pieces, Breathing mask- 360 pieces, Thermometer (12) with batteries (20pcs) Medical Apron 10 sets, Mattresses 12 pieces, Hand washing buckets- 50 pieces, Surgical gloves 1box.

A press release says the donation was made On June 17, 2020.

There were also Hand sanitizers- 44 pieces, Rexoguard disinfectant- 24 pieces, Detergent powder soap- 5 cartoons, Clorox- 72 gallons, Paper towels- 48 pieces, Tissue/Toilet paper- 144 pieces, Hand washing liquid soap- 96 pieces, Safety boots/rain boots- 50 pieces and PPE Suits- 48 pcs etc.

Zwannah Kimber, Oxfam Education Officer said the donation was based on a request from the county health team to partners, we initially responded but the items were not enough.”

He said despite many efforts in reducing the spread of the virus, there is a need for more support adding that allcitizens must abide by health protocols.

The budget request from the county team was US$3500 but Kimber said the materials cost US$3,752.

According to him, the mattresses were not included but Oxfam saw the need because surveillance officers were stranded.

County Health Officer Dr. Augustine Fannieh receiving the donations said the donation is timely, foremost and essential materials in ensuring and enforcing safety for citizens in reducing the risk of covid-19.

He said the materials will be used for the 15 border crossing points and health offices.

Dr. Fannieh said the though state regulations have been relaxed, there is still a need to abide by health protocols because of the increase of cases.

He assured Oxfam materials would be used for the intended purpose and would contribute immensely in enforcing the curbing of the virus in the county.

Currently Zwedru has no Covid-19 cases according to the National Public Health Institute report.
