Persons With Disabilities To Get Cash Support From National Lottery To Do Business

Twenty persons with disabilities are to shortly benefit from a funding support from the National Lottery Authority to establish businesses, the NLA has disclosed in Monrovia.

NLA Director General, Reginald Nagbe said that this financial empowerment is in line with President George Weah’s “Pro-poor” agenda.

According to him, the project, code named: “NLA’S Business Empowerment,” is a long –term economic self-empowerment program,  targeting 20 physically challenged people in six counties.

He said the beneficiaries are coming from Montserrado, Bomi, Grand Cape Mount Margibi Grand Bassa and Bong Counties.

The NLA Director General explained that his entity in collaboration with the National Union of Organizations of Disabled is currently constructing 20 mini booths and will subsequently fill them with non- perishable goods at the cost of 250 United States Dollars each.

Meanwhile, the National Lottery Authority has begun the distribution of 1,600 bags of 25KG rice and other food items to disabled, orphanages and less fortunate institutions in Monrovia and its environs.

The Director General of the NLA, Reginald Nagbe disclosed that the items include 345 gallons of vegetable oil, 248 cartoons of soap, 100 cartoons of washing and bathing soap.

In remarks, the President of the National Union of Organization of the Disabled, Naomi Harris thanked the National Lottery Authority for providing bags of rice , tins of vegetable oil and bathing soap for people with disabilities.

She assured the National Lottery Authority that the items will distributed to all of its beneficiaries as was named by the NLA.
