Liberia National Police Arrests and Charges Woman for False Kidnapping Claim

The Liberia National Police (LNP) has formally charged Miss Amie T. Dean, a 26-year-old Liberian and resident of Paynesville City, with the commission of the crimes of FALSE STATEMENT and FALSE REPORT to LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICIAL in violation of Chapters 12.31 and 12.33 of the Revised Penal Code of the Republic of Liberia.

The suspect is currently pending court trial.

Miss Dean was initially reported missing on April 2, 2026, and subsequently reappeared on April 4, 2026, claiming she had been abducted by unknown individuals in an unidentified vehicle.

During police interrogation, Miss Dean admitted that the kidnapping claim was fabricated and misleading. She pleaded for mercy, acknowledging that the report was false.

The Liberia National Police urges the public to refrain from making false reports, as such actions divert critical resources and undermine public safety efforts.
