GBARNGA, Liberia-Ahead of the Christmas festive season, the Liberia National Police (LNP) has launched an operation to curtail criminal activities in the central Bong County.
This comes amid a growing wave of criminal activities including burglaries and robberies.
The commander of the Police detachment in Bong County, Assistant Commissioner, Col. Fasu V. Sheriff told a news conference recently that they have instituted strategies that will bring could be criminals down.
Col. Sheriff he is being assisted by his counterparts from other state security apparatus in implementing the operation.
Despite the strategies by the LNP and other security forces meant to deal with the growing wave of criminal activities in the County, the local Police commander is calling on residents of the county to assist the Police with relevant information about the criminals and their hideouts.
During the operation, the police are expected to raid ghettos and criminal hideouts in one of Liberia most populated counties.
Col. Sheriff further said the exercise will be extended to communities like the notorious Kampala Base in Gbarnga that is said to be infested with scores of criminals.
The Bong County Police Commander further revealed that the heightened security measure will run for one month throughout the rest of December and up to January 15, 2023,
