Report from Kinjor, Liberia’s western Grand Cape Mount says the traditional “Poro” society grand master is currently providing security for a man identified as Boakai Samulaah, who allegedly raped a 34-year-old woman who was three months pregnant, thus aborting the pregnancy.

In an interview with the survivor, she explained that on January 3, 2022, while in bed about 10:59pm, the accused came and started pushing her door forcibly. And later he entered and began demanding her to give him her bluetooth but she refused, while her husband was away at work.

After she refused,, the alleged perpetrator then demanded her to give him L$10,000.00 or else he would have sex with her.

According to the rape survivor, the perpetrator took hold of the cutlass she and her husband were keeping in their room and the man began threatening her. He repeated that if she didn’t give him the L$10K, he would kill her or if the money is not available, she must allow him to have sex with her.

As the threat grew, the survivor explained that she was compelled to yield to the alleged perpetrator and allowed him to have his his will, after which she started bleeding profusely.

After the man had carried out his devilish act, she said that she then informed some elders of the town about her ordeal from the hands of the perpetrator.

It is said that the man absconded from the scene, making away with the woman’s Bluetooth, after which she was rushed to several nearby clinics where she was advised by healthcare workers that her case was beyond their control.

During that period, the Kinjor area was experiencing protest at the Bea Mountain Mining Company was ongoing. The elders had to use another route out of the town to get her to a bigger health facility.

Meanwhile, the rape survivor revealed that she has since filed her complaint at the women and protection section in Kinjor, where a search was launched for the alleged perpetrator.

But according to her, they were allegedly prevented by the “Poro” master. Report by Garmah Never Lomo, garmahlomo@gmail.com
