A speeding white pickup which takeoff from Monrovia heading to Grand Bassa County has killed a pregnant woman including three other persons.
According to eyewitness account, the incident occurred near the “Kissmeat” center at Baclayville Compound one in Grand Bassa over the weekend.
The pickup was said to be carrying nine occupants including the driver, who was going for his father’s wake keeping and funeral in Grand Bassa County. But the name of the main town where the funeral ceremonies was not disclosed.
Eyewitnesses further explained that the pickup was on excessive speed and that the driver was told by occupants that he was speeding too much, but to no avail.
Explaining further, the eyewitness narrated most of those on pick up were people who were taking lift.
The eyewitness disclosed that one of the survivors told him that they reached the Owensgrove check point with high speed.
Before reaching to “Kissmeat” center, the pickup summersaulted four times and finally landed into a creek, killing one person instantly.
As for the pregnant woman, she and the others were thrown out of the pickup due to the high speed, but she did not die on the scene of the accident, but reportedly died enroute to a nearby hospital.
The driver and the four others however, survived with most of victims being on critical list and are currently in Monrovia taking treatment at various health facilities.
