Pres. Boakai Hosts Farewell Program For Diaspora Annual Return Participants Today, Friday

Executive Mansion, Liberia – President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., will this Friday host a Farewell Program marking the close of the 2025/2026 Diaspora Annual Return (DAR), a national initiative that welcomed Liberians from the Diaspora, African Americans, and friends of Liberia for a season of cultural exchange, dialogue, and engagement.

The Farewell Program is scheduled for Friday, January 9, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. on the grounds of the Executive Mansion in Monrovia.

Over the past several weeks, visiting Liberians from the Diaspora have participated in a wide range of activities, including cultural immersion, national policy dialogue, investment discussions, and community service initiatives across the country.

The upcoming Farewell Event will provide an opportunity for appreciation, reflection, and renewed commitment to strengthening the enduring ties between Liberia and its global Diaspora community.

The event is being held under the auspices of the Office of the President of the Republic of Liberia, through the Office of Diaspora Affairs and in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The occasion is expected to bring together returning Diasporans, senior government officials, development partners, traditional leaders, private sector actors, and members of the diplomatic corps. Highlights of the program will include:

  • Reflections on the achievements and impact of the Diaspora Annual Return 2025
  • Recognition of Diaspora contributions to national development
  • A renewed expression of support for continued Diaspora engagement, investment, and inclusion
