FISH TOWN, RIVER GEE, Liberia– Mr. Nagbe W. Johnson, who allegedly raped a 15-year-old girl, has been released by the 4th Judicial Circuit Court in Maryland County.

Mr. Johnson is Special Assistant/Information Officer in the Office of River Gee County Superintendent.

On June 29, 2020 l in Fishtown, he was arrested by the Liberia National Police (LNP) River Gee detachment and forwarded to court after preliminary investigation.

Therefore, during the November term of court in 2020 at the fifteenth (15th) Judiciary circuit court, River Gee County, Mr. Nagbe, through his lawyer filed a request for a change in venue, where he designated Maryland County as a preferred area for trial. The request was granted by the presiding Judge, George W. Smith and he was forwarded to the 4th Judiciary circuit court in Maryland County, where he spent one year and five months in jail.

However, on November 22, 2021, Mr. was released by the court.

According to him, his release came as a result of the alleged rape victim not being able to provide sufficient evidence before the competent court of jurisdiction.

After Mr. Nagbe’s release and arrival in Fishtown, River Gee County Superintendent, Philip Q. Nyenuh immediately reinstated him as Special Assistant/Information Officer on January 13, 2022.

During a ceremony, Superintendent Nyenuh praised Liberia’s Justice system, describing it as “free and fair”.

The River Gee County Superintendent then urged all citizens to be law abiding.
