A collaborative group has been formed to investigate recent flooding in front of the Monrovia City Corporation and other parts of Monrovia municipality, in order to combat the persistent flooding problem.
The National Road Fund, Public Works, Environmental Protection Agency, National Disaster Management Agency, Paynesville City Corporation, Mines and Energy, Liberia Telecommunications Authority, and Liberia Water and Sewer are the members of the joint investigation team.
The joint team formation meeting was held on Wednesday morning at the Environmental Protection Agency, which is located on 4th Street Sinkor on the Tubman Boulevard in Monrovia, a press release says.
The joint assessment is anticipated to begin this week.
The goal of the meeting, according to Jones N. Williams, City Manager of the City Government of Monrovia, was to form a team to look into and find answers for the ongoing flooding in the cities.
The public will be informed about the causes and effects of the flooding as well as how we can manage the flooding concerns whenever they emerge in the future, he claims, following the joint investigation.
He explained that the group would be creating plans and procedures for the next fact-finding study on flood damage in the cities of Monrovia and Paynesville.
The joint investigation team will identify the infrastructures that are generating it and create short-, medium-, and long-term solutions, he added.
