What appears to be a serious rift has emerged in the “New Vision Liberia” group based in the United States, with prominent Liberian Scientist Dr. Dougbeh Chris Nyan accused misleading the world about a recent trip to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the Middle East.
A report published on www.newspublictrust.com on Monday quotes a statement from Dr. Nyan’s office as saying that the award-winning Liberian scientist and social activist recently addressed a forum on Science, Governance and Democray in the UAE presenting a new vision to rescue Liberia.
But in a phone call from the United States and a statement later sent to this news outlet, Dr. Lee Hudges said: “This story is false misleading and baseless. Dr. Dougbeh Chris Nyan, Prof. Alaric K Tokpa and Martin K. N. Kollie, seen in the attached photo, were flown to the UAE, (Dubai) to attend a conference under the auspices of New Vision Liberia to discuss Liberia.”
Dr. Hudges claimed that the conference “was not a forum for science and technology as is being portrayed in the story.”
In the earlier phone call from the US late Monday night, Dr. Hudges and another female said to be executive of “New Vision Liberia” claimed that Dr. Nyan was trying to hijack the group and turn it into a subsidiary of the National Democratic Coalition (NDC), a political party in Liberia headed by Professor Alaric Tokpa.
But their claim is yet to be verified.
The statement from Dr. Nyan’s office quoted him as saying in the UAE that “Liberia is the oldest republic in Africa that gained its independence in 1847, but its national life appears to be dimming in a bleak future. In contrast, Dr. Nyan presented an overall view of a New Vision for Liberia, stating that.”
It said “the New Vision is a renewed patriotic platform that encourages every citizen to fight against corruption and mismanagement of our national resources in society; it is that New Vision that encourages good governance, visionary national leadership as well as advocating equality, social justice, and economic prosperity for all in our society.”

Kollie, seen in the attached photo, were flown to the UAE, (Dubai) to attend a conference understand the auspices of New Vision Liberia to discuss Liberia.
The conference was not a forum for science an technology as is being portrayed in the story. All airfare, hotel and food was underratten by New Vision Liberia.
Therefore, we kindly ask that you retract this story as it’s false, misleading and does not represent New Vision Liberia.
