HARPER, Liberia- The J.S. Pratt United Methodist High School in the southeastern County of Maryland has been crowned champions of the Liberia Football Association (LFA) Maryland Sub Association Inter High School League, after defeating Cape Palmas High.
Over four hundred spectators, comprising students and members of Alumni Association of both high schools and their supporters, were at the stadium to cheer their various sides to victory in this port city, situated 637 kilometers southeast of Monrovia.
The 90th plus additional minutes ended goalless which led to a penalty kick and this was the end of the role for CPHS.
The Lakers defeated the oldest high school in Maryland, Cape Palmas high school in the grand final after 90th minutes of play through penalty shootout. Otis Collins shoot from the penalty spot secure the first silver wear for his school ending over half a decade spell of not being able to clinch the trophy.
The J.S. Pratt United Methodist High football team head coach Sunny Boley told sports writers at the Martha Tubman Sports Stadium after his side narrowly defeated Cape Palmas High School that the school is back to winning and this is just the beginning.
“I’m taking them Zwedru, Grand Gedeh to partake in the regional ISSA Competition of which six high schools from the six south eastern counties will play in including host and I can assure our supporters and fans that we will emerge victorious.“
Both teams displayed fantastic style of play during the 90th minutes but we won through penalty kick and my boss were in form and ready for that, Boley noted.
The grand final was played at the examination hall of Marylanders football, the famous Martha Tubman Sports Stadium on Tolbert drive in the Stadium Road Community in the port city of Harper.
In another development Frist Assembly God School in Pleebo also dragged City rivals Jasper Grant United Methodist female team in the ISSA League, sweeping the title.
Both the male team of J.S. Pratt United Methodist High and Frist Assembly God School female team are expected to depart for Zwedru anytime soon, www.newspublictrust.com has gathered.
