St. Paul Lutheran High School made history in the 2025–2026 Upper Margibi ISSA League by securing their first-ever trophy, thanks to a standout performance from rising star, Sando Kromah.

In an exciting kickball grand final on Friday, 24 April at the Nancy B. Doe Sports Stadium in Kakata, St. Paul Lutheran defeated George V. Gibson United Methodist High School 2-1. Kromah opened the scoring early in the first inning, giving her team a 1-0 lead heading into halftime.

George V. Gibson responded in the fifth inning of the second half to level the match at 1-1.

However, strong defensive play from St. Paul Lutheran kept their opponents from capitalizing further. In a dramatic finish, Kromah delivered a home-run in the seventh and final inning, sealing a 2-1 victory for her team.

Kromah, who also plays for second division side Surprise KC in Margibi County, played a crucial role throughout the tournament. Her outstanding performances helped St. Paul Lutheran finish the competition unbeaten and claim the championship.

As winners, St. Paul Lutheran High School received LD$30,000, a trophy, and medals, while runners-up George V. Gibson took home LD$15,000 along with medals and a trophy.

In the football category, Lango Lippaye High School emerged champions after a tense penalty shootout against Better Foundation Academy, following a goalless draw in regular time.

Better Foundation Academy initially gained the upper hand when Lango Lippaye missed their first two penalties. However, they failed to capitalize on the advantage. Lango Lippaye mounted a comeback to win 4-3 in a dramatic shootout.

Goalkeeper Varfee Kromah was the hero of the match, delivering a remarkable performance during the penalties to secure victory for his team.

Lango Lippaye High School earned LD$50,000, along with a trophy and medals, while Better Foundation Academy received LD$25,000 as runners-up.

This year’s tournament featured 16 schools competing in both kickball and football, including one school from outside Margibi County. The competition was held under the theme “Unifying Schools Through Sports” and marked the first edition under the leadership of ISSA Margibi County Chapter Chairman, Ton  Kerkula Jr.
