Monrovia, Liberia – The Government of Liberia has donated a brand-new double cabin Pickup to the Liberia College of Physicians and Surgeons (LCPS) to boost postgraduate specialist medical training in Liberia. This donation marks the second vehicle provided to LCPS by the government under the leadership of President Joseph Nyumah Boakai in 2025, a LCPS press release at the weekend.
According to Finance and Development Planning Minister, Augustine Kpehe Ngafuan, the donations are part of the Government’s continued commitment to strengthening Liberia’s health system through investment in medical education, specialist training, and the development of a competent health workforce.
Minister Ngafuan said the vehicles will enhance the operational capacity of the College, particularly in the implementation and supervision of postgraduate residency training programs.
He emphasized that strengthening local specialist training will help reduce the need for Liberians to seek specialist care and medical training outside the country while contributing to a stronger and more sustainable national health system.
Receiving the current vehicle, the President of the Liberia College of Physicians and Surgeons Professor John Mulbah, expressed gratitude to the Government of Liberia for the support.
Professor Mulbah said the donation represents more than just the provision of transportation; it is an investment in the future of Liberia’s healthcare system and in the doctors being trained to provide specialized care to the Liberian people, he noted.
Since its launch in 2013, the College has trained 166 medical specialists, who are contributing to healthcare delivery across Liberia and beyond.
The LCPS currently offers postgraduate residency training in several medical specialties and continues to work with teaching hospitals and other partners to strengthen the quality and accessibility of specialist medical education in Liberia.
