The Liberia water and sewer Corporation (LWSC) says it will resume water supply to Monrovia starting on Sunday, August 25, 2019.

The water outage experienced in recent times in the city, according to LWSC Managing Director Dwana Kamara, is due to the damage caused to its main power supply line connecting Monrovia to its main plant in White Plains,

The damages done to it, he said, have all been repaired. The main water pipeline entering Monrovia from the St Paul River White Plains water treatment plant was constructed many decades ago. and the LWSC boss said it has corroded substantially.

Mr. Dwana was speaking at a news conference in Monrovia on Thursday..

Ensuring clean and safe drinking water for the people is a priority of the George Weah Government, Mr. Dwana asserted.

Meanwhile, the LWSC boss has disclosed that the World Bank has donated $20M dollars to the LWSC to help upgrade its facilities.

“The amount is an initial disbursement of $36 million,” the LWSC will be given.

He explained that equipment meant to have lasted for 25 years have been used for over a fifty year period now.

The main facilities of the LWSC in White Plains outside Monrovia were among the infrastructural damages of the civil war.
